Today was the kick off to spring break in our county schools. I volunteer at several libraries but one particular library makes me smile every time I go in. It serves kids who are mainly on free and reduced lunch, runs with no PTA and with very little attention from the community. In charge of the library is Mrs. Smith, a dynamic woman with a really big heart. She’s my kind of librarian- the kind who allows for a little talking, plenty of time to explore and she doesn’t freak out over lost books. There is laughter and excitement in her library. So here’s to all the Mrs. Smiths leading our school libraries –enjoy your spring break. You all deserve it!

Carol is a rare gift who delights in life, students, and helping all who come in her frame of reference. I count my blessings that she is a part of Charleston County’s “Media Ninjas” she makes my job and life happier.

Thanks for the comment, Connie. It makes a huge difference when a librarian is easy-going and respects the kids like Carol does. It makes the library a comfortable place for kids to be in. Would love to see and maybe post your “library ninjas” video for our reads.
